Blood-Type-Specific Foods

The “Blood Type Diet”

We’ve always been told, you are what you eat. This is very true! However, naturopath, scientist, and writer Peter D’Adamo takes that concept several steps further, with his “Eat Right 4 Your Type” 1996 book series, which is based on blood type science.

In his books, D’Adamo asserts that blood type is the most important factor in determining an individualized and healthy diet plan that allows each of us to feel at our best and to live happier lives as a result.

This also can avoid debilitating, fatal diseases, including cancer, high blood pressure, and diabetes, to name a few. It all starts from within! His books were New York Times bestsellers and are still wildly popular today.

Here at Five Seasons Whole Foods Market, we have the ability to provide you with the tools (products, advice, feedback, and support) you need in order for your eating and diet to be successful for your body, so you and your family can live long, happy, and healthy lives.

We also have blood-type-specific products from Peter D’Adamo’s line available here in our store, such as meal replacement shake mixes that are conducive for each blood type, blood type books, and much more.

The “blood type diet” classifies how individuals of each blood type are supposed to eat in order for the body to perform and feel at its best:
  • Type A: Called the agrarian or cultivator. People who are type A should eat a diet rich in plants and completely free of “toxic” red meat. This closely resembles a vegetarian diet.
  • Type B: Called the nomad. These people can eat plants and most meats (except chicken and pork), and can also eat some dairy. However, they should avoid wheat, corn, lentils, tomatoes, and a few other foods.
  • Type AB: Called the enigma. Described as a mix between types A and B. Foods to eat include seafood, tofu, dairy, beans, and grains. They should avoid kidney beans, corn, beef, and chicken.
  • Type O: Called the hunter. This is a high-protein diet based largely on meat, fish, poultry, certain fruits, and vegetables, but limited in grains, legumes, and dairy. It closely resembles the paleo diet.
